Boris Kodjoe and Nicole Ari Parker honored with roller-skating baby shower

Jet, Feb 28, 2005

Actors Boris Kodjoe and Nicole Ari Parker, one of TV's hottest real-life couples, recently celebrated their impending parenthood during a roller-skating baby shower at World On Wheels in Los Angeles.

The real-life engaged couple, who portray a married couple on the UPN series "Second Time Around," wore matching outfits. Boris' shirt had blue letters that read "Nicole's Baby Daddy" while Nicole's shirt had pink letters that read "Boris' Baby Mama." They are expecting a daughter in March.

In addition to plenty of skating, guests had loads of fun playing games during the co-ed shower.

Couples played Pin the Diaper on the Husband (the ladies had to see who could put the diapers on their men the fastest). The expectant mom won.

The baby bottle drinking event included male contestants, including actors Dondre Whitfield, Christopher B. Duncan, Eriq LaSalle, Boris and Bill Hammond, CEO of Hammond Entertainment. Duncan won that contest hands down, emptying the bottle in no time flat!

Guests also knit their own square to be connected for a special keepsake blanket. They also gave baby advice that was placed on a decorative card to be placed in the baby's special keepsake book.

A host of close family and friends attended the event. Among the notables were Traci Ellis Ross, Melinda Williams, Vanessa Williams, Duane Martin, Melissa De Sousa, Brian White, Bethann Hardison, and Nicole Murphy. Noted photographer Michael Jordan Smith, a close friend of Boris' since Boris' early days as a model, and "Second Time Around" producer Ralph Farquhar also were on hand at the celebration.

Boris and Nicole first turned heads with their portrayal of the lovers Teri and Damon on the Showtime series "Soul Food."

They were engaged last year. Born and raised in Germany, Boris proposed to the lovely actress on the mountainside where he learned to ski in Germany. They plan to wed this May.
