Black male med school applicants on upswing - 23.1% increase in African-American male medical school applicants reported by Association of American Medical Colleges - Brief Article

The Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) recently reported a 23.1 percent increase in the number of Black men who applied to medical schools compared to this time last year.

More than 1,350 Black men had applied to U.S. med schools--the first time in 12 years that the percentage increase exceeded that for Black women.

Black women applicants increased 18.1 percent to 2,061 applicants. Last year, Black male applicants increased by 5 percent and Black women increased by 12.9 percent.
