Black CDC employees file discrimination suit - US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention - Brief Article

Jet, July 5, 1993

A class action suit has been filed against the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) by Black employees in Atlanta who claim the agency discriminates in hiring, promotion and training.

"There are not African-Americans in the decision-making process of the CDC," computer scientist Victor Hall said. Hall, who joined in the class action suit, added: "All we are asking for is being part of our own health planning."

The Department of Health and Human Services, the CDC's parent agency, forwarded the suit to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission on June 2.
