Best-selling artists Mariah Carey, Michael Jackson and TLC have not only topped music charts, but also have topped the list for having the most nominations for the 38th annual Grammy Awards which were recently announced.

Superstar pop diva Mariah Carey swept away the list of nominees with a total of six nominations. Carey, who won two Grammy Awards in 1991, is up for record of the year and best pop collaboration, both for the song One Sweet Day, a song recorded with Grammy Award-winning artists Boyz II Men. The songbird also received nominations for her latest top-selling album, Daydream, which was nominated for best album and pop album. Carey was also nominated for best pop vocal and best R & B vocal.

Mega superstar Michael Jackson and rap-singing group TLC both garnered four nominations.

Jackson's HIStory Past, Present and Future Book I was nominated best album of the year, while his duet with superstar sister Janet, Scream, was nominated best pop collaboration with- vocals and best music video, short form. The R. Kelly penned tune, You Are Not Alone, also won Jackson a nomination for best male pop vocal performance.

TLC's message-filled song, Waterfalls, was nominated for best record of the year and best pop performance by a duo or group with vocals. The trio's top-selling album, Crazysexycool, was nominated best R & B album while the song, Creep, taken from the album, was nominated best R & B performance by a duo or group with vocals.

Others to receive nominations were: Hootie & The e,was Blowfish, Anita Baker, Coolio, Toni Braxton, D, Angelo, Stevie Wonder, Barry White, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Lena Horne, CeCe Winans, John P. Kee, Shirley Caesar and Martin Lawrence.

The 38th Annual Grammys Awards Show is scheduled to broadcast on Feb. 28 at Los Angeles, Shrine Auditorium. Winners in 88 categories will be chosen by the 7,000 voting members of the Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences. At Jet press time, the host of the show hadn't been announced.
