Earl "Butch" Graves Jr. recently was appointed president of Earl G. Graves Publishing Company, which publishes Black Enterprise Magazine.

Prior to his appointment, Graves was publisher and COO of the magazine. He will continue to hold the COO title. His new responsibilities include strategic positioning of the corporation and its overall profitability.

"This is a significant milestone in the history of Earl G. Graves Ltd.," says Earl G. Graves, chairman and CEO of the company. "After grooming him for executive leadership for a decade, I am proud to name my oldest son president of our publishing company. I know there are challenges facing him and the rest of his generation of entrepreneurial leaders, but he will continue to lead our publishing company to profitability and growth."

The younger Graves earned an M.B.A. degree from Harvard University in Cambridge, MA, and his B.A. from Yale University in New Haven, CT. The former basketball player was drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers after college and played briefly for the Milwaukee Bucks and Cleveland Cavaliers.

He lives in Westchester County, NY, with his wife, Roberta, and their four children.
