Dr. Alvin Poussaint weds Dr. Tina Young in garden ceremony in Redlands, Ca

Dr. Alvin F. Poussaint, renowned psychiatrist, recently exchanged wedding vows with Dr. Tina Inez Young, a pediatric neuroradiologist, during a garden ceremony at the home of the bride's parents in Redlands, Calif.

About 100 guests were on hand at the home of Drs. Florence and Lionel W. Young to witness the nuptials. The newlyweds met and fell in love at Harvard University in Boston where he is associate professor of psychiatry and associate dean for student affairs in the department of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. She is an instructor in radiology at the medical school and pediatric neuroradiologist at Children's Hospital in the city.

A graduate of Mount Holyoke College who majored in mathematics and biology, the bride received her medical degree from Yale University. Her residency in diagnostic radiology and fellowship in neuroradiology were completed at the Massachusetts General Hospital.

The bridegroom graduated from Columbia College and earned his M.D. from Cornell University. He completed his residency in psychiatry at UCLA. He is also a noted author whose latest book is Raising Black Children, a guide to raising Black children, written with psychiatrist Dr. James P. Comer (Jet, Jan. 11).

Poussaint served as production consultant on the long-running hit series "The Cosby Show" and serves in the same capacity for the sitcom "A Different World."

He is also a frequent contributor to Ebony Magazine and has written an article for the February issue of the magazine on the ongoing battle of the sexes titled Enough Already! Stop The Male-Bashing and Infighting.

The honeymooners enjoyed a romantic getaway to Hawaii.
