Navy Salutes Professor: The National Naval Officers' Association recently honored professor Samuel P. Massie (1) by establishing an educational endowment in his name. Presenting the state charter is Rep. Wayne Gilchrest (R., Md.) The honor established an educational opportunity for minorities, women and people of economically disadvantaged backgrounds who seek out higher education openings.

Professor Massie has taught at the Naval Academy in Annapolis since 1966. He was the first Black faculty member at the academy.
