Dexter Manley gets 4 years in prison for cocaine possession

Jet, August 21, 1995

Former Washington Redskins All-Pro defensive lineman Dexter Manley pleaded guilty to two counts of cocaine possession and was sentenced to four years in prison.

As part of a plea bargain, two other pending drug possession charges were dropped.

Manley, 37, admitted to possessing a controlled substance last Nov. 13 and recently on July 26. His latest arrest was the fourth in eight months for Manley, who had just completed a four-month drug treatment program at a Houston hospital.

Manley, who played in two Super Bowls with the Redskins, was permanently barred from the NFL in 1989 after failing his fourth drug test.
