Betty Appleby, deputy director of the Governor's Southeastern Michigan office in Detroit, has been named managing director of the state of Michigan's International Trade Office in Johannesburg, South Africa. She will provide export assistance to Michigan companies, develop referrals with public and private marketing organizations and facilitate Michigan investment by African companies.
