Maurice Johnson named Grambling band leader

There's a new leader of one of the greatest college band's in all the land. And he's Maurice Johnson, the new band director of Grambling State University Tiger Marching Band.
Johnson, previously the assistant band director there, is a 1965 graduate of GSU.
The Monroe, LA, native served as the band director at Carroll High School in his hometown from 1979-1987 prior to arriving at GSU and is confident in his ability to lead the world famous musical ensemble.
"I was privileged to have had hands-on training with Conrad Hutchinson (GSU's legendary band leader). He was a leader who outlined the |how's and "why's."
The new band master has performed with and arranged music for such distinguished artists as blues legend Bobby 'Blue' Bland and soul stars The Temptations.
