Dennis 'The Worm' Rodman wears wedding dress to book signing in New York

Jet, Sept 9, 1996

Dennis "The Worm" Rodman sure knows how to wiggle his way into the limelight whether it's on the basketball court or off. The Chicago Bulls power forward recently had all eyes on him when he arrived at a New York bookstore dressed as a bride to sign his best-selling autobiography Bad As I Wanna Be.

Rodman arrived at the Barnes & Noble bookstore in a police-escorted, horse-drawn carriage, dressed in a lacy, white wedding dress with long white gloves. The controversial top rebounder had his face beautifully made up and wore a bright blond wig beneath his wedding veil. In addition to being escorted by his bodyguard, Rodman also was accompanied by women dressed in tuxedos.

The 35-year-old basketball superstar, who re-signed with the Chicago Bulls for a one-year deal worth $9 million, first caused a media frenzy when he left many wondering who, or if, he would really tie the knot. The day prior to his wedding antics, Rodman announced on the "Late Show with David Letterman" and a radio talk show that he would wed.

At 6-foot-8, 210-pounds, the flashy basketball star signed copies of his hot book, and, when asked if he was getting married, Rodman teasingly replied, "Oh, yes. I'm so thrilled." He added that "me and someone else" would honeymoon in Rome.

This isn't the first time the tattooed hoopster surprised the media and fans to promote his book. Nearly four months ago, Rodman, sporting silver hair and wearing makeup, leather pants and a pink feather boa, rode a motorcycle down Michigan Avenue in Chicago to attend a book signing at Borders Books.
