Kansas City Royals' Brian McRae wins $1.9 million salary increase

The Kansas City Royals centerfielder Brian McRae recently won a $1.9 million baseball salary arbitration in New York, giving the four-year veteran five-times his $378,000 salary last year.

McRae, 26, son of Royals manager Hal McRae, batted .282 last season which was 59 points better than his batting average in 1992.

The switch-hitting outfielder who batted .223 in '92, was best known for his defensive play until last season.
