Sheila Chhutani of Country Club Hills, IL is a young scholar on the move.

She recently received a four-year, full-tuition merit scholarship to attend St. Louis University School of Medicine. She is enrolled in the 1995-96 class of medical students.

Prior to medical school, she received a bachelor of science degree in biology from Northeast Missouri State University. While attending the college, she was the recipient of the Presidential Honorary Scholarship for all four years.

Her interest in the medical field peaked when she joined the IIT University Chicago AREA Health and Medical Careers Program in Chicago under the direction of Dr. Reginald Jones. This program provided Sheila with experience in medicine.

Sheila, while waiting for medical school over the summer; coached her sister, Brittany's softball team and mentored incoming sophomore high school students in the Young Scientist Program at Chicago State University/IIT.

Sheila is the daughter of James and Carolyn Chhutani of Country Club Hills and the granddaughter of Hollis and Louise Chester of Chicago. Sheila also was a top graduate of Rich Central High School in Olympia Fields, IL.

Her parents and grandparents always stressed the importance of education. Sheila says she feels fortunate and grateful to be able to attend St. Louis University School of Medicine on a full-tuition scholarship based on her merit.
