STUDENTS' DEMANDS: University of Massachusetts student Rodina Cole Cave addresses about 700 supporters outside the Goodell Building in Amherst, MA, during a rally. A group of 175 students are occupying the building in an effort to acquire more minority students, employees and financial aid. Student David duCille stands at the podium to address the students gathered in support of the peaceful protest.
Most of the protesters are from the group ALANA, which stands for Asian, Latin American, African and Native American. Students say the university's administration reneged on pledges made after racial unrest in 1992.
