Late Princess Diana's compassion extended to Blacks worldwide
Jet, Sept 22, 1997
The world continues to mourn the tragic death of Diana, the Princess of Wales, 36, who was killed along with her companion Dodi Fayed and their driver when their car crashed into a wall in a Paris tunnel.
Part of her beloved legacy are her generosity and compassion for children and the sick throughout the world -- many of whom were Blacks. Princess Diana took part in more than 100 organizations and causes in the arts, in medicine, in science and in housing. She also fought against land mines and embraced AIDS patients.
She made several visits to the U.S. in support of her causes.
Although she endured a highly publicized divorce from Prince Charles which stripped her of the title "Her Royal Highness," her touch was felt throughout the world. Her death caused many to pause to remember the impact the mother of two sons left on Earth.
