Famed actor Andre Braugher was the only Black to walk away with a top acting honor at the recent 50th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards.

Braugher, known for his former role as Det. Frank Pembleton on the gritty television drama "Homicide: Life on the Street," won an Emmy for Outstanding Actor, Drama Series.

Black director Paris Barclay won an Emmy for Outstanding Director for a Drama Series for his work on the television drama "NYPD Blue." Barclay tied with Mark Tinker, who directs the TV drama "Brooklyn South," in the category.

Thomas Carter, a former actor-turned-producer who executive-produced the HBO movie, Don King: Only In America, accepted the film's Emmy for Outstanding Made for Television Movie.

This year's ceremony, held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, celebrated five decades of Emmy history.
