Ice Cube's backup singer charged with murder
Jet, April 4, 1994
Rap star Ice Cube's backup singer T-Bone was recently charged with a fatal shooting at a bowling alley in Los Angeles.
Terry Gray, 24, known to fans as T-Bone and also a member of the rap group Da Lench Mob, was charged with one count of murder and one count of attempted murder in the shooting.
Gray's lawyer, Anthony Alexander, said his client left the bowling alley long before the shooting. Judge Roosevelt Robinson Jr. set bail at $1.5 million in Inglewood Municipal Court.
Herbert Battle and Lashawn Townsend, both 22, were bowling when Gray asked Battle where he was from, according to Deputy District Atty. Gregory Jennings.
Apparently unhappy with the response, Gray allegedly fired a semiautomatic weapon, killing Battle and injuring Townsend, the prosecutor said.
Da Lench Mob is an Ice Cube-developed rap trio from South Central Los Angeles. The group's 1992 album was titled Guerrillas in tha Mist.
