Jet, April 4, 1994

Purdue University's Glenn Robinson, the nation's leading scorer amongst college basketball players, was a unanimous choice for The Associated Press All-America Team.

University of California-Berkeley star sophomore guard Jason Kidd was one ballot shy of a unanimous selection.

Joining Robinson and Kidd on the first team were Donyell Marshall of Connecticut, Grant Hill of Duke and Clifford Rozier of Louisville.

Robinson, a 6-foot-8 junior who scored 30.3 points and grabbed 10.1 rebounds, is also a leading candidate for college basketball player of the year.

A deft shooter from the outside as well as inside, Robinson shot 49 percent from the field including a respectable 36 percent from the three-point arch.

He becomes the first unanimous selection since Duke's Christian Laettner in 1992. And Robinson is the first first-team selection from Purdue since Joe Barry Carroll in 1980.

Kidd is the first first-team All-America selection from California since 1960, when Darrell Imhoff made the first team. The 6-4 guard dished 9.1 assists per game and averaged 16.8 points, 6.8 rebounds and 3.1 steals.

Kidd has been rated by numerous pollsters as one of the top three prospects in the country for the upcoming NBA draft should he chose to leave school early.

Marshall, a 6-foot-9 junior, is the first Huskie ever to make the first team. Hill, the only senior, led Duke by averaging 17.3 points, 6.6 rebounds and 5.1 assists.

Rozier, a junior, became Louisville's first first-team selection since Darrell Grifffith in 1980. The Metro Conference Player of the Year the last two seasons averaged 19.1 points and 11. 2 rebounds per game this season.

The second team includes Jalen Rose of Michigan, Corliss Williamson of Arkansas, Khalid Reeves of Arizona, Eric Montross of North Carolina and Melvin Booker of Missouri.

Third team selections were Bryant Reeves of Oklahoma State, Kidd's teammate Lemond Murray, B.J. Tyler of Texas, Juwan Howard of Michigan and Damon Bailey of Indiana.
