Duane Delaney is named new clerk of court for District of Columbia Superior Court

Atty. Duane B. Delaney recently was named clerk of the court for the Superior Court of the District of Columbia during recent ceremonies in the District.

Since 1993 Delaney has served in the position of acting director of the Social Services Division in the Superior Court.

From 1991 to 1993, Delaney served in the post of acting director and then director of the court's Civil Division.

From 1989 to 1991, he served as special assistant to the clerk of court, and became deputy clerk of the District of Columbia Superior Court in November 1991.

A native of the District of Columbia, Delaney graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor's degree in sociology from Howard University in 1977.

He later earned his master's degree in the administration of justice from American University in D.C. He received his juris doctor degree from Georgetown University Law Center and was admitted to the D.C. Bar in 1989.
