* Dedicated Servant: The Rev. Dr. Aaron Mackley is joined by his wife Adele after recently stepping down as pastor of Mount Olive Baptist Church in Arlington, Va., after 55 years of dedicated service. The cleric holds the record as serving the longest time as pastor of a church in the Washington, D.C., area.
He was feted at a retirement tribute service at the church as well as a black tie banquet at the Sheraton National Hotel in the city. In addition to pastoring, he was a homiletics instructor at Washington Baptist Seminary for many years. Many of the ministers preaching in the Washington, D.C., area today studied under Rev. Mackley. He also was the first Black to serve on the Arlington County School Board.
