K.C. Jones, who coached the Boston Celtics to two NBA championships, is taking his veteran skills to the women'S American Basketball League (ABL).

Jones, 64, has been named head coach of the ABL's New England Blizzard. He signed a four-year contract with the league.

"I've had the chance to coach young girls and young women in my camps for many years and have always been impressed by how enthusiastic and coachable they are," he said. "They show a desire to be students of the game, and my intention here is to teach. I have a passion for this game, and I'm not ready to get out of it yet."

Jones was most recently an assistant coach for the Celtics. And he said he is looking forward to being in charge again.

I'm very excited about having this chance to be a head coach with the ABL," he said. "I don't like assistant coaching, especially after being a head coach. Being an assistant has not been fun."

In addition to the two titles as a coach in 1984 and 1986, Jones, a Hall of Famer, won eight titles as a player with the Celtics where he played from 1956-1967 and two as an assistant coach, one with the Celtics in 1981 and one with the Los Angeles Lakers in 1972.
