Bears release 'The Fridge' but Eagles pick him up - William 'the Refrigerator' Perry leaves the Chicago Bears for the Philadelphia Eagles football club - Brief Article
Jet, Nov 29, 1993
William "The Refrigerator" Perry, probably best known for scoring a rushing touchdown for the Chicago Bears in Super Bowl XX in New Orleans, was recently released by the Bears but was picked up on waivers by the Philedalphia Eagles.
In less than 24 hours after the Bears cut Perry, 30, he was on a plane for Philadelphia to take a physical. Once he passed it, he was on the practice field.
"All I want to do now is just play," Pery told Chicago media as he boarded a plane at O'Hare Airport.
Perry, was in his ninth season with the Bears. But apparently with the emphasis on speed, the Bears cut him.
A 1985 first-round draft pick out of Clemson, the 6-foot-2, 325-pound defensive tackle had 28-1/2 career sacks.
