Christopher J. Wilson, an 11-year-old from Norfolk, VA, and his family got the surprise of their lives when his drawing of the White House was selected recently to appear on the cover of an official White House publication.

Christopher, who just completed the sixth grade at the middle school of Christ The King Catholic School in the city, loves art. He sketched a picture of the White House and sent it to President Bill Clinton.

"We were later informed that a White House publication featuring drawing from children was to be done. Christopher's drawing of the White House was being considered," his parents Sandra and James Wilson told JET.

Several months later, the family received a copy of The White House--The House of the People in the mail, with Christopher's art work gracing the cover.

The publication is distributed all over the nation to school children and White House visitors. "We are very proud of Christopher," his parents said.

The President felt likewise. In a letter to Christopher, Clinton said, "Thank you so much for letting us use your drawing in the new White House booklet. I know that children all over the country will enjoy your wonderful artwork."

In another letter, Clinton told the aspiring artist, "I appreciate your hard work and creativity. Young people like you are the future of our country. I am honored to be your president."
