The Indiana Black Expo will hold its 25th Annual Summer Celebration July 24-30 in Indianapolis.
The annual festival has grown to become one of the largest Black cultural events in the nation, drawing some 500,000 people a year to the Indiana Convention Center and RCA Dome.
Planned activities include the Employment Opportunity Fair, one of the largest job fairs in the state, a minority health fair, an art exhibition, and the Annual Corporate Luncheon that will honor writer-poet extraordinaire Maya Angelou and Indiana Governor Evan Bayh.
The sexy trio Salt N'Pepa will be honored at the President's Reception.
And due to the overwhelming demand, there will be three days of consumer exhibits with over 1,000 vendors showcasing their products instead of two days as in past years.
The Expo's Music Heritage Festival win feature the maestro of love Barry White and R&B diva Chante Moore. The free concert will be held July 28.
Paid concert participants include Patti LaBelle, Gerald LeVert, Cameo, the Bar-Kays, Gladys Knight and Frankie Beverly & Maze.
In speaking of the Expo's growth, the Rev. Charles Williams, who serves as president, said, "Our tremendous growth over the last 25 years is a result of the hard work and dedication of the founders, a host of volunteers and the support of the community. What started out to be an Indiana event has grown to become a national program."
