Murder charges stand

Jet, July 3, 1995

Rap star Snoop Doggy Dogg, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, is shown in Los Angeles Superior Court. Murder charges against the rap star and two co-defendants win stand even though police inadvertently destroyed some evidence, a judge recently ruled (Jet, May 1). Trial has been set for Aug. 1. The 23-year-old rapper was accused of driving the vehicle from which his bodyguard allegedly shot and killed a man identified as Philip Waldermariam during a 1993 drive-by shooting.

The rapper contends Waldermariam was stalking him.
