Provides journalists the opportunity to study international affairs at Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies in Washington, D.C., and travel overseas to a country of their choice.
Eligibility: Any U.S. journalist (e.g., newspapers, magazines, wire services, radio, television, online news organizations and freelancers) with at least three years of professional experience. Must be U.S. citizen or working full time in the U.S. at an American-based news organization. Stipend: $2,000 per month in Washington, D.C., and $2,500 for travel plus round-trip airfare to one international destination.

Duration: Five weeks in foreign country, 10 weeks in Washington, D.C.

Eligibility: Any U.S. resident working in the following areas: reporting, writing, editing, publication design, pre-press production, computer technologies, circulation, advertising, marketing and promotion, business management and pressroom operations.
Stipend: Covers transportation and living expenses in the foreign country
Location: Any country outside the U.S. except Western Europe and Japan
Duration: Two to nine months

Atlantic Fellowships in Public Policy

Established by the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office in 1994 to bolster Anglo-American relations and foster an exchange of ideas between public policy professionals in the U.S. and U.K.
Eligibility: Mid-career professionals active in any part of the public, business or philanthropic sectors.
Must be U.S. citizens with at least five years of professional experience.
Stipend: 500[pounds sterling] ($300)/month (600 [pounds sterling] ($360)/month in London) for those on paid leave; 1,300 [pounds sterling] ($790)/month (1,700 [pounds sterling] ($1,030) in London) for those without a paid leave. Additional expenses covered by the program include: travel to, from and within the U.K.; institutional fees (i.e., office rental and equipment); monthly family stipend and allowance for household goods and relocation; shipping allowance.
