Direct marketers offer Website convenience
Most coupon-clipping individuals eagerly await the weekly arrival of direct-mail coupons at their homes, relying on the coupons for savings on products such as pizzas, discount checks, and eye exams. If you do not receive these great offers, don't fret. A few of the largest direct-mail companies have created Websites to offer consumers free online coupons to be used offline.
Founded in 1929, ADVO Inc. (www .advo.com), the nation's largest direct-mail marketing company, distributes ShopWise coupons to more than 60 million households weekly throughout the United States. The savings include discounts from companies such as Wal-Mart, Sears, KFC, CVS Pharmacy, and J.C. Penney. If, for some reason, you are not in their mailing zone, sign on to the Website ShopWise.com. After entering your ZIP code and shopping preferences, you'll find offers and discounts that are tailor-made for you. In addition, you will receive weekly specials via e-mail.
Clipper Magazine's Website, MyClipper.com, Allows consumers in Delaware, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, New York Pennsylvania, and Virginia to sign up for its free service and download hundreds of coupons. The Website permits consumers in all 50 states to print out coupons valid nationwide for companies such as Lenscrafters and Olan Mills portrait studios.
For consumers residing in the Buffalo and Rochester, New York, areas, Savers Direct's Website at www.snq.com/savers/coupons.htm offers more than 100 online coupons for businesses such as Allstate Insurance, Jiffy Lube, Stanley Steemer carpet cleaner, as well as various restaurants, car washes, and dry cleaners.
"The beauty of online coupons is [that] you can go online and print them," says Christopher Jacobs, vice president of Savers Direct, which reaches 190,000 homes. "It is helpful for people that need multiple coupons for things like pizza and convenient if you have lost your coupon."
