The Money Connection: Where and How to Apply for Business Loans and Venture Capital. - book reviews

Black Enterprise, Sept, 1994 by Carolyn M. Brown

You're looking to start a business. But you haven't a clue about where to get the money to run it. In that case, you'll probably want the ABC's of business financing. Well, that's what you get in The Money Connection: Where And How To Apply For Business Loans and Venture Capital.

This book provides brief descriptions of various types of business loans, including those available through the SBA's Microloan Program and Small Business Investment Companies. Then there's a very concise chapter on alternative sources of financing (i.e., foundations and insurance companies).

You'll also get the basics on what should be included in a loan proposal. But don't expect to learn exactly how to fill out such a request. And you definitely won't find any sample forms in this book.

Essentially, The Money Connection is a resource book. So, it's real benefit is a listing of hundreds of business loans and venture capital sources with their addresses, phone numbers, fax numbers, contact persons, the amounts they will loan or invest and the types of businesses or projects that they prefer. Sources of capital are also broken down by region and state.
