Side with the American Family Association? - Worth Noting - Bible club in high school - Brief Article

Humanist, March-April, 2003 by Karen Ann Gajewski

* Here's a dilemma: should humanists side with the American Family Association over the decision by the Boulder Valley School District to refuse to allow high school students to form a Bible club while allowing other clubs, including a gay/straight alliance. A federal lawsuit charging religious discrimination has been filed against the Colorado school district by the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ), a religious right public interest law firm. Since the school requires that all clubs be curriculum-related, the students forming the Bible club claim it would relate to the curriculum by serving as an extension to courses which deal with the Bible in history, literature, and philosophy.
