* Humanists and rationalists around the world mourn the March 22, 2004, death of V.M. Tarkunde, a torchbearer for human rights and Humanism. A former judge of the Bombay High Court in India and a recipient of the International Humanist Award, Tarkunde was a leading force for the advancement of the Humanist movement in India.
