Ector Texas County School Board agreed March 5 to stop teaching the Bible course in its public schools

To settle a federal lawsuit challenging its decision in 2007 to teach a controversial high school course promoting a particular interpretation of the Bible, the Ector Texas County School Board agreed March 5 to stop teaching the Bible course in its public schools. A further requirement of the settlement warns that any Bible course the board might try to offer in the future is subject to strict legal standards for objectivity and may not be based on any religious organization's curriculum.
