On Thursday, September 21, 2000, the Food and Drug Administration finally gave its official approval to RU-486--much to the chagrin of pro-lifers who vowed to make abortion even more of an issue in the final days before the November elections. And it's no time for pro-choicers to relax their guard: a rightwing administration could--and probably would--overrule the FDA and once more make the mifespristone (the "abortion" pill) unavailable to U.S.

women.
