Vatican is attempting to resurrect its influence - Worth Noting - Brief Article
Humanist, Nov-Dec, 2003 by Karen Ann Gajewski
* The Vatican is attempting to resurrect its influence in the United States. In September 2003 it announced reforms to the mass outlawing dancing, altar girls, and applause (even following a wedding mass). And it continues to try to wield its influence over the U.S. political arena by instructing American Catholic voters how to vote and American Catholic public officials how to legislate. The American Civil Liberties Union charges that the Holy See--the "governmental face" of the Roman Catholic Church--is interfering in the American legal process.
