Satisfy your children's curiosity and teach them well as you explore amazing wilderness. Our Family Trips create a cooperative atmosphere where everyone shares camp chores while honing outdoor skills and learning about ecology. Red River Gorge Family Trip, Kentucky. June 25-30. The bluegrass of Kentucky beckons, and so do the gorges! We'll camp, hike, canoe, and rappel at a family pace in this exquisite area, which narrowly escaped damming thanks to efforts by the Sierra Club and other environmental groups. Big Basin Family Base Camp, California. July 9-14. Pack your hiking boots and swimsuits. Lost Coast Family Base Camp, California. July 22-27. As its name implies, the Lost Coast contains the most remote coastal wilderness in California. This region features nearly 30 miles of roadless coast, thick forests that open onto remote beaches, and a variety of wildlife. We'll explore tidepools and watch for seals playing in the surf.
