The Chic Choc Mountains are a paradise of abundant snow and spectacular mountains and the only area in North America where deer, moose, and woodland caribou coexist. 100 Years of Sierra Club Outings
PHOTO CONTEST
2001 will mark the 100th anniversary of Sierra Club Outings. To celebrate we're asking National Outings participants and leaders to take part in a photo contest. We're looking for photos that capture the camaraderie, the natural beauty, and the proud history which have made this long-lived outdoor program what it is today,
Categories: (1) People in nature, (2) Natural world--scenic or close-up, and (3) Historic--people in nature, taken on an outing before 1970.
Entries: Must be taken on a Sierra Club National Outing. Submissions must be 8" x 10" or smaller (prints or transparencies), color and black & white will be accepted. No more than three entries per person. Each submission must identify the photographer, time, place, and specific outing on which the image was taken. Be sure to include your return address and contact information. For return of work, enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope; no money or stamps accepted. Mail entries to: Sierra Club Outings Photo Contest, 85 Second Street, 2nd Floor, San Francisco, CA 94105. Deadline for submission: October 15, 2000.
Prizes: Grand prize: a $500 certificate toward a National Outing, Prizes for each category: 1st place--a $150 certificate toward a National Outing, 2nd place--a Sierra Club published book of your choice, 3rd place--one year of Sierra Club membership ($35 value). Winners will be announced (and some winning images may appear) in the May/June issue of Sierra. Rights remain with the photographer, Decision of judges is final.
