HUNGER FOR KNOWLEDGE
Marlene Myrie of the Bag Lady Flava (October/November 1999) could at least have printed one of her exotic recipes for your subscribers.
James E. Frazier Staten Island, NY
Editor's note: Yes, she could have, but she'd rather see you at her Web site--again and again.
RECOGNITION
Congratulations! Your Calendar in the August/September 1999 issue caught my attention and reminded me of your relevancy. When I saw the photo of Nicki Mathis, I immediately made plans to attend the "Many Colors of a Woman's 13th Annual Free Jazz Concert" in Connecticut in September. That concert is well worth the trip from anywhere.

HOW ABOUT US?
In an article in the October/November 1999 issue titled "From a Cab Ride to National Bus Tours," I noticed that nothing was mentioned about the Underground Railroad Trail sponsored by the Friends of Freedom Society and designated as one of 16 flagship National Millennium Trails. This was quite an honor for our grass-roots group to receive. We have located 600 Underground Railroad sites just in Ohio!
Cathy D. Nelson Founder and President Friends of Freedom Society Columbus, OH
Editor's note: Wonderful! Of course, your achievements were not mentioned in our article because you are referring to a different project. Millennium Trails is a national initiative of the White House Millennium Council in partnership with the Department of Transportation and Rails-to-Trails Conservancy.
KUDOS
As a regular follower of your publication, I find myself impressed by the boldness with which your editorial staff seems imbued in addressing cultural issues most germane to the African-American population. You fill a rather obvious void in the periodicals marketplace--both as a means of addressing a purportedly "invisible" audience, and as an outlet for otherwise ignored aesthetic matters.
Bayo Ojikutu Chicago, IL
I recently received my first issue of your most wonderful magazine, and I look forward to receiving every issue. It could possibly serve as a common link to all of us who have an interest in our history, and there are many of us who are researchers with this interest. I operate the World Wide Web site http://www. RAAHistory.com, which is devoted primarily to the military and astronauts.
Your articles are interesting and always offer something new. Much success on an excellent publication.
