Sold on Auctions - Company Business and Marketing - Brief Article

Home Office Computing, Dec, 2000 by Sonya Donaldson

No longer the sole domain of antiques dealers or consumers hawking stuffed toys, online auctions are being discovered by small businesses as an inexpensive way to tap into the global marketplace. According to the Boston Consulting Group, auctions now account for 20 percent of all online sales, and a report conducted by Cambridge, Mass.-based Forrester Research says online auction sales will climb to $19 billion by 2003.

For the cost of per-transaction charges plus a small Listing fee, small businesses are increasing not only their customer base, but also their bottom lines.
