Creating your own stationery is easy, saves money - includes related article on tips for nonartists - tutorial

Home Office Computing, Feb, 1991 by Hillary Rettig

Keep in mind that a good letterhead tells the reader not only the name of your business, but also what kind of business it is. For example, combined upper- and lowercase type has a friendlier feel than solid uppercase; it may be a better choice if your audience is individuals or small businesses. All uppercase, on the other hand, may be more impressive to larger corporations. And italic type can often convey an impression of speed and efficiency.

While you're creating a design, remember to keep it simple. Nothing betrays an amateur more than having too many words, fonts, or graphics crammed into too small a space. HILLARY RETTIG is a writer and computer consultant. This is her first article for HOMEOFFICE COMPUTING.
