> Work crews tore down billboards across the United Kingdom as the country's ban on tobacco advertising took effect. Government officials and health groups say the ban will help reduce cigarette smoking, but they aren't waiting to see if that prediction comes true. "The next step must be a complete ban on smoking in public places," says Vivienne Nathanson, head of the science and ethics committee of the British Medical Association.
