To boost local production and reduce the amount of foreign content on TV, Chinese authorities have banned films and television shows that mix animation with real people. It isn't the first time China has cracked down on animation: According to Variety, the government banned the talking-pig movie Babe several years ago because "animals can't talk and some viewers would be confused."
