Jacqueline Smith - Brickbats - parking tickets - Brief Article
Reason, Nov, 2002 by Charles Oliver
> Jacqueline Smith received a [pounds sterling]30 ($45) fine from the city of Edinburgh, Scotland, for parking in a no parking zone. Smith appealed on the grounds that the space wasn't marked until two days after she received her ticket. The city helpfully pointed out that there were markings on the pavement indicating road crews should paint the double lines indicating "no parking." Only after other ticketed drivers complained did the city back down and rescind the fines.
