Orhan Pamuk, one of Turkey's most respected novelists, faces up to three years in prison for "insulting" the national character
Reason, Dec, 2005 by Charles Oliver
Orhan Pamuk, one of Turkey's most respected novelists, faces up to three years in prison for "insulting" the national character. He accomplished this in an interview with a Swiss newspaper by mentioning the 1 million Armenians killed by Turks early in the 20th century and the 30,000 Kurds killed by the government since 1984.
