Speak of the Devil

A staffer for Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., was overheard in early April explaining rather loudly to friends that, although she worked for the senator, she wasn't even a Republican.

Seated in a restaurant in Tyson's Comer, Va., the staffer told her friends: "People think because I work for McCain, I'm a conservative, but I'm really not." She said she likes working for McCain because he's "bipartisan."

But there were issues on which she disagreed with McCain. She said his position supporting federal funding for abstinence-only sex education was "fucked up" because "kids are gonna have sex no matter what." She also used the term "fucked up" to describe President Bush's tightening of the trade embargo on Cuba.
