"The bottom line is a man involved in homosexual behavior is 500 times more likely to be the victim of violence, violent assault at the hands of his own homosexual `lover' -- a `love crime' -- than he is to be a victim of a so-called `hate crime.'"

-- Gary Glenn, director of the American Family Association of Michigan, urging that homosexuals push for legislation to protect themselves from domestic assaults by their own partners.

"No comment."

-- Spokespersons for former president Bill Clinton react to reports that he has expressed regret at not pardoning former senior Justice Department official Webster Hubbell and former Arkansas governor Jim Guy Tucker.

"I don't think that a military confrontation between the United States and China is inevitable."

-- Adm. Dennis Blair, the commander in chief of the U.S. Pacific forces, in testimony before the Senate Armed Services Committee.
