Spirit of Easter Means Different Strokes for Different Folks

Ah, what holidays do to people! In Madison, Wis., an aggressive shopping-mall Easter bunny (big enough to frighten Jimmy Carter) got into a slugfest with her assistant, right there in public for all to see. Local newspapers couldn't resist calling her hopping mad.
The 15-year-old bunny had removed part of her costume and set her bunny head down on the sidewalk, according to the Associated Press, or AP, when the 20-year-old assistant pushed the bunny so she fell over her costume head. The younger girl then stood up and started slinging punches toward her attacker. Madison police were called, broke up the fight and arrested both ladies. Managers of the West Towne Mall expressed relief that the two were on a break behind the scenes so the bunny bout was witnessed by very few.

Another story from AP brought more Easter-like news. In New London, Conn., Felix Pepe was returning to his 1987 Plymouth when he thought he saw a parking ticket stuck on the windshield. Closer examination showed that it was -- of all things -- a $20 bill. A careful man, Pepe looked around and saw another $20 bill on the windshield of a car just down the street. Taking his own windfall, he showed it to his apartment manager, who was amazed, even flabbergasted, that there was extra money floating around the neighborhood.
The police, when called, said they weren't aware of any robberies in the area that might account for anyone being so cavalier with $20 bills. It was Pepe's wife, Haydee, who came up with a possible answer: Perhaps an anonymous donor put the money on the windshields just to celebrate Easter and the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
