* Latino teens in Orange County, Calif, are more sexually active and less likely to use birth-control methods than teen-agers elsewhere in the United States (study by Planned Parenthood concluding that promiscuous teens in that area need more sex education).

* Despite many benefits, the use of chlorinated water, particularly in showering, may boost the risk of cancer and miscarriage (University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Public Health study of trihalomethane exposure resulting from showering. The Environmental Protection Agency, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Texas Department of Health, Colorado State University and the American Water Works Association Research Foundation also were involved in the study).

* A collection of death notices--about 450,000 in all, clipped from the Frederick (Md.) News-Post--has been donated to a local library by Jack and Betty Linton, who took over the clipping task after J. Merhrling Holdcroft had to give up the effort he'd begun in 1930 (report in the Frederick News-Post, mentioning that Holdcroft also recorded and published some 75,000 tombstone inscriptions in Frederick County).
