-- Tom Mann, a government scholar at the Brookings Institution, comments on Sen. Hillary Clinton's, D-N. Y., national-level "attack dog" status as regards the Bush administration, as noted in a New York Post column by Vincent Morris.

"I do know there have been a number, but I can't say how many."

-- Erik Smulsen, spokesman for turncoat former Republican Sen. Jim Jeffords of Vermont, responds to questions about the number of campaign donors who have asked for refunds. Jeffords said he'll give the money back on request.
