"Homophobia is not an actual phobia."

--From a study by University of Arkansas psychologists (Jeffrey Lohr, Bunmi Olatunji and Suzanne Meunier) recently presented before the American Psychological Society. The study 's finding: that so-called "homophobia" is not a true psychological fear but rather a social expression of disgust and a reflection of concern about contamination.

"I think the dog makes the distinction."

--McKees Rocks, Pa., councilwoman Wanda Jones Dixon, calling for the execution of Dolpho, a police dog that was accused of racial profiling.

"U.N.-free Zone"

--Message on road signs going up in Grant County, Ore., after voters approved a measure banning the United Nations from their county.
