Government, contractors cozy up to silence whistle-blowers

As a federal employee, I don't find the lack of sanctions against federal contractors at all surprising [see the last word, Sept. 2], because the government does the same itself. If you check the Department of Labor Website regarding cases filed under the environmental whistle-blower laws, the entities with the largest number of winning cases against them aren't Fortune 500 companies, but the Environmental Protection Agency, the Department of Energy and the Tennessee Valley Authority--the three most regulated government agencies.

Because I am both a contracting person and a whistle-blower, I have seen both the open retaliation by the government against anyone who opposes management and the often too-cozy relationship with contractors. It is a typical "good-old-boy" network.
