* The number of FBI agents whose duties involve domestic counterterrorism almost quintupled during the Clinton years, jumping from 224 in 1992 to 1,025 in 1999 (analysis of federal employment data by the Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse associated with Syracuse University).

* Sixteen percent of Americans get news about political candidates from comedy shows such as Saturday Night Live (Pew Research Center for the People and the Press, cited in Jack O'Dwyer's newsletter and forwarded by Alan Caruba).

* In a race between equally qualified candidates, one male and one female, slightly more than half of prospective voters would base their choice on gender (study by Kira Sanbonmatsu, assistant professor of political science at Ohio State University).
